Final Report on the Jan-Feb 2025 Trip
Final Report: Jamaica Dental Project
(Jan-Feb 2025)
The Jamaica Dental Project, Inc recently sent two dental teams from the United States to the parish of Trelawny, Jamaica. During this period of January 27th to January 31st and February 3rd to February 7th these teams provide free dental care to local residents. Additionally, a Sealant Team visited to several local Trelawny primary schools, applying sealants on age-appropriate children.
Our clinic site was established at the Seventh Day Adventist’s Campsite Building in Duncans. Church President Pastor Karl Archer, once again granted us permission to utilize the property, and a substantial tent was erected to shield waiting patients from inclement weather. Individuals of all ages and religious affiliations had access to our dental services. The church staff diligently assisted with patient registration and provided invaluable support, enabling our teams to operate efficiently. We anticipate maintaining this partnership and continuing our work at this location for the foreseeable future.
For a third consecutive trip, Great Shape Inc., through Joe Wright provided a Montego Bay-based team, led by Reyon Richards, with the logistical support of setting up, servicing, and dismantling the dental equipment we utilized. This equipment was paramount to our ability to treat substantial patient volume within the limited timeframe. Our gratitude is boundless, and we cherish this partnership, which we aspire to maintain and acknowledge their invaluable contribution.
Each dental team, comprising oral surgeons, general dentists, pediatric dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and dental students, served for a week. The majority of these professionals were returning from previous trips, while we were delighted to welcome new volunteers for their inaugural experience. We sincerely help they will consider participating again. As is customary in our endeavors in Trelawny, we were fortunate to secure housing in Silver Sands. Private villa owners and My Silver Sands villa rentals generously accommodated our requests, which is an indispensable component to our ability to sustain the Jamaica Dental Project
We extend our sincere gratitude to the management, staff and owners for their contributions. The success of this initiative is a testament to the collective efforts of numerous individuals, both in the United States and Jamaica. We are deeply appreciative of these relationships and recognize that their support is essential for the project’s continued success.
All The Best to Everyone ..
